The DANTES Subjects Standardized Tests (DSST)

The DANTES Subjects Standardized Tests (DSST) lets you exhibit your knowledge obtained outside the classroom and lets you bypass various college courses.

By taking a DSST practice test in one of the offered subject areas, you can convert knowledge you’ve gained through life, military, or professional experience into college credits.

More than 1,900 colleges and universities give advanced standing or credit based upon the DSST, with the minimum score for eligibility established by each academic institution.

How Does the DSST Help You?  With a passing score, you can earn up to three college credits per DSST examination taken.  What does that mean?

What Tests Are Offered?

The Drug and Alcohol Abuse Test

The Drug and Alcohol Abuse examination requires aspirants to display the following abilities:

• Knowledge of basic terminology and facts (about 95% of the exam).
• The ability to apply knowledge to specific instances or situations (approximately 5% of the test).  This portion of the exam also emphasizes the ways in which different circumstances relate to drug use and abuse, pharmacological procedures, classification of drugs, alcohol sources and types, and the effects, prevention and treatment of alcohol abuse and alcoholism.
